Canyon River Magic 2013 • Midvale Elementary In-School Project
Michael Moonbird & Victoria Lyons
Midvale Elementary contracted with Bad Dog Arts to work with their entire student body to create permanent artwork to provide a welcoming presence in the front entry of the school. In August 2012 Directors Michael Moonbird and Victoria Lyons of Bad Dog Arts attended the new school Grand Opening and received a tour from the architect of the school where he informed attendees how the school design has been inspired by the natural beauty of Utah and our various National Parks throughout the state. Bad Dog Arts directors and staff were very impressed with the new school design and went to work to facilitate a project that has become a legacy piece that the community can take pride in for the life of the school. Artists took their inspiration for the new mural from architectural elements of the design of the building. Geological landforms of Utah became the basis of the overall design to inspire and teach children design techniques that gave them the ability to participate in the entire process.
